I have had both fail in similar manner -- start trouble and then fairly stable.<br /><br />Most Windows BIOS have a series of test that can be run to help ID the problem. It will be one of the F-keys as you are booting to select it.<br /><br />The intermittent nature seems to make the HD the last choice. There are a bunch of file test programs around to see if files have been corrupted that'd work beyond the disk test under the computer icon.<br /><br />You probably know all that but I figured a reminder might help.<br /><br />P.S. If your phone has Bluetooth, you should be able to use a Bluetooth keyboard.<br /><br />And, if all else fails, check the yellow pages for computer repair shops. Not to fix necessarily.
