Con...Love the title of this post....Goldfish, huh?

Congrats on a nice session. The hand you describe is a tough one and I sure don't blame you for playing it safe. To me what makes it easier (to play it safe) is that you were both so deep. I'm sure the really great players can tell you the exact amount of money you would make over time making a value bet there every time, but if that would have been the time it backfired, you'd be so pissed you'd end up looking for a VBJ machine to get it back on.

GG.

Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05767080296489122846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8025049.post-54678665931238963452013-07-31T19:29:59.709-07:002013-07-31T19:29:59.709-07:00congrats on a nice ca$h.congrats on a nice ca$h.Memphis MOJOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12653631347560307425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8025049.post-47489184219219158622013-07-31T15:11:56.785-07:002013-07-31T15:11:56.785-07:00Yep.

A call may be easier in that spot. But, if you lead out, and get check raised, now what? You are facing a slow-played set --> boat, or a bluff (missed flush, broadway, etc) in that spot, and you're basically playing for stacks at that point. Do you settle for the safe play and a nice pot, or do you go for value and risk having to make a really scary decision?

Anyway, really nice session, sir.

Pete P. Tough decision ...Congrats on the excellent session! Tough decision on the river situation. I once had an aggro guy check the river. I bet and he raised $250. Was he getting me back for grabbing several hundo off him? Did he think there was no way I'd call unless I had the nuts? Did he have me beat and figured his bet would look like a bluff or that I would not be able to lay a good hand down? I check called the river in a similar situation when I held like the third nuts and my had was way good there. After we had both folded preflop in the next hand he said, "If you're willing to call a bet, why not make a bet?" It was his indirect way of nudging me to play more aggressively. I think his thinking is that betting gives me two ways to win the hand there instead of just one.JT88Keyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14030012435363552208noreply@blogger.com
