Car Situation Updated

So the car is at the dealership and will be looked at sometime today.
I called and put in a claim with my insurance just in case there is anything they can do to help.
I called the company that owns the van that did the oil-change and the guy who answered pretty much just blew me off and ended up hanging up on me.
Called back mentioning that if he were to continue his attitude and not be willing to take care of this situation then he'd end up speaking to my attorney and his tune changed a bit.

Guy who did the oil change should probably end up being fired as he was not supposed to be doing changes for anyone personally (Only places like Enterprise Rent-A-Car, etc).  So, he has been doing work off the clock and using company product in order to make money for himself.

Gave all the info to the company and waiting to hear back from them as well.
I'm fairly certain this will end up going to court - at least that is how it feels currently.
I will be getting my rental car shortly so that I can resume my normal work schedule tomorrow and then let everything play out and see where life takes me.

Tomorrow I hope to post something more fun, interesting and not car related!

    1. Life can't be all fun and games, and it's these types of situations that (after they are done) I hope to be able to draw from for my future comedy routines -

Once I can look at it slightly more objectively that is.

    1. I will be asking that they pay for the rental and I'll even ask that they pay for my day of lost wages.

I did not know that he was doing this on the side - If I knew I would not have allowed it to happen.
1- Because of the situation I'm in now and
2- Because I'd be approving this guy stealing from the company for personal gain. And that's against my moral judgement.

I was told I'll have my car back hopefully by Friday - they just have to locate the engine.
Everything else will take care of itself.

Worst case scenario I have just learned a valuable lesson in life and also just got the worlds most expensive oil change!

  4. Did they say how much it was gonna be to fix the car? I understand that you will try to get reimbursed, but as you say, it may take legal action. Also, if he guy was acting on his own and not as a representative of the company, your action is against him, not the company and who knows if he has any money, even if you win. It's not a good situation. Plus this guy was your neighbor? That's another akward situation!

Speaking of shit, I have spent the afternoon trying to get a damn virus off my PC. Ugh.

    1. $6300
Gave the neighbor the bill and he said he would take care of it Friday.
I'm taking a "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude as that's a lot of scratch for anyone to come up with.

Hopefully just a few more months of living here so that the awkward doesn't have to last too long.

    1. That's what I said! HR could buy a car for that amount.

  7. Hopefuly he will pay it. His employer might make him in order to keep his job. Hopefully he issued a receipt as that would help if he doesn't pay and you go after the company. Even tho he did it on his own they may share some liability. Good luck.
