Penultimate

So, in all of my 36.5 years on this planet yesterday ended up being the one moment that I would deem the most emotional moment of my life thus far.

As I was playing ball with the kid while his mother worked he turned to me and said:

"Serge, I wish you were my dad"

Then gave me a big hug.

  1. That's very cool. Kids' affection is pure. They recognize quality people. I'm confused by the title though. Second to last?

    1. The next to last step of actually being a father.
Having a kid who isn't yours want you to be his.

I had more in mind when I started typing that would have had it make a bit more sense but it never materialized and i didn't think to go back and change the title.

  4. Gee, so do I, Serge. [Kicking gravel and looking up winningly with tousled hair hiding some freckles]

Nice, guy. You are doing a lot of things right in this life. You might get your super hero suit ahead of time. Your own comic is well in the future.

  5. That is something very special...I married into three kids, now 18, 11, and 9. I came into their lives five years ago...the 18 year old started calling me dad when he was 17( there was an event) but it felt so very good. I am happy that you shared this with us!
