New and FBOY improved

If'n it's not doing it right now for you then within the next few days it will be.  I have finally gone ahead and registered my blog as a domain and everyone can access it at www.grrouchie.com.

Oh, that just has a special ring in to it in my heart.
I do not know whether or not this is good or bad or indifferent but I registered through Google because it was the bloody cheapest way to do it.  Ten bucks and it was all mine plus they do the hosting for the blog and set everything up for me so I didn't have to fuss wit' nuttin'.
I had been wanting to register grrouchie.com for quite a long time, well before I even started doing this whole blogging thing so I just kind of felt it appropriate to do it now while I've actually got some sort of following and....

I did it to make life easier for FBOY!  You see, this fine young gentleman (no offense) gets to my site by doing a Google search for Confessions of a Local Fish.  So, going to grrouchie.com should be so much easier for him!  See, I am nice to my readers.

My next step is to find out how to host sub-domains so that I can have other content on my site and not just this blog.  I plan on adding other things for you all to do, look at, read, whatever.  I am going to be a whole interactive experience (give it a few years - I do not promise any quick results heh).

For all of my future readers that wish to get in contact with me - I've made an email address specifically for this website now - (also listed to the right) grrouchie@grrouchie.com.
Those who know me and have used other means to get a hold of me can continue to do so.  I just wanted one for the future of grrouchertainment.

  1. Very exciting, congrats. I've been thinking of doing that myself, but I didn't even realize that you could do it with google so that all your old posts are still here and you don't have to redirect everyone to your old site. Nice. I guess I need info on how you do that. I assume the old URL will work like forever so those who have you bookmarked will have no problem getting to you.

Now...did you redesign the site too or is it different now just because of the domain change? I ask because now, your page does NOT fit on my screen. I have to scroll left and right to see all of your page. Before I didn't have to. In order for me to see everything (left to right) I have to make the text really tiny. So I wonder if that was by design or more do to the domain change. I must admit I find it a little frustrating but at least the posts can fit on the page without scrolling, it's just the stuff on either side I don't see.

NOW...here's a question for just me. I just switched from IE to Foxfire as my "blogging" browser (I use Google Chrome as the "real" me). I did this because my IE was totally infected with a virus/spyware/hijacker whatever. It SEEMS that just by not using IE most of those issues are gone. We'll see. Anyway, in Foxfire there is just a blank white space where the fish should be. I can see the fish in Chrome. Do you have any idea what plug-in/add-on I need to add to Foxfire to see the fish? I mean I can't even see them, let alone feed them.

Congrats. I guess all that extra money you'll be making from shouting "Yo!" enabled you to pay for this!

    1. Ok, I just installed the Adobe Flash Plug In and that solved the missing fish problem. Fish are now well fed!

    2. Hey, Rob, what have you used to try to clean up the virus or whatever infected you? My favorite cleanup app to fix that sort of stuff is Malwarebyes which can be downloaded from www.Malwarebytes.org

    3. That is a good app JT88, I've used it a lot myself.
Have a shortcut on my desktop that I try to run at a min once a month.

    4. The only problem is that there are a few viruses out there that change your DNS and redirect you away from that site, so you have to be savvy enough to manually set your DNS to something else or start Windows in Safe Mode with networking support to download it. Also they sometimes block the app name so you have to rename the executable to something indistinguishable like a random string of numbers.

  2. Very cool to have your own domain...

The frames are wider than my standard laptop screen so you have to scroll right to see the content on the right side of the screen which is a wee bit bothersome.

    1. I have heard the Frame complaint from a few people so I'll fix that in the near future today.

I've been playing around with the layout a little bit and I guess I made things too wide!

    1. No worries - I didn't see Rob's message until after either.
I thought he sent me an email and I replied to a "no-reply" email lol.

  4. Okie Dokie peoples.
Please do a "refresh" and tell me if it's still too wide or if it all fits?

I condensed it down a bit to try to get it to fit for all you fine folks.

    1. First of all....I guess you are now master of your own domain!

JT, thanks for the tip, I used another product or two, but I plan on using that and maybe a few others to try to get the thing completely gone. I know they say that no one product finds everything.

grrouchie, the changes are a bit better but I still have to scroll.

    2. Ok - so I start over.
Back to this layout which has worked fine for now!

This should get rid of the "scrolling" issue.

  10. Smart move getting your domain name. I recently bought imtooprettytowork.com. I don't have anything on it yet, but it's true and I couldn't resist.
