Another Day Wasted

Today after work I had to drive to a friends house to feed and water their cats since they are out of town and I'm too nice to say "no, I fucking hate cats and my allergies will hate me."
They have 4 cats and I guess it's not really the putting food in the dish part that I mind so much but more scooping the recycled food out of the box that bothers me.
In total I spend about 10 minutes in their house from start to finish and by the time that 10 minutes is up my allergies are already kicking in and my body is deteriorating.
It's disturbing just how allergic I am to cats and I hate every minute of it.
Oh well, such is life.  Move on and shut up already.

I think the hell that I put my system through for the 10 minutes I spend in that house is also cause for my complete lack of motivation to do anything over the last few days as well.  Today after getting home I took a nap and from the time I woke up from that nap the only thing I want to do is go back to sleep.
I just wanted to sleep for 12 hours straight to avoid having to do anything during the evening.  I have essentially put off doing anything, but unfortunately I've had to be awake for most of it.  No TV, no movies, no video games.  I have a complete and utter lack of any desire to do anything.

So, with that I'm going to allow this desire to win by no longer typing this evening.

  1. Dude, have you thought of popping a Benadryl or a Claritin 20 minutes beforehand?

    1. maybe with things in the normal realm of allergies, but cats are a whole different beast.
I could slam 10 Benadryl and wait for it to kick in, enter the house and nearly die.
My body has such an adverse reaction to cats and their dander. This is the one animal that can literally kill me.
My lungs tighten up, my breathing gets horrible, I've had my eyes swell shut because I was around cats for too long. Literally swell completely , non-functioning, can't open what the literal fuck I'm going to die shut.
So it is truly with love in my heart that I am watching after these creatures from hell while risking my very being.

    2. That's sweet. I'll pick up the keys tomorrow.

So why the hell did you come over when we started dating when I had Valentine?

  2. Nanci asked me to say the following,"Please don't die in the house. If he dies ask him to do it outside."

    1. If I were going to die anywhere it would be while driving down the street after leaving and veering off to the wrong side of the road and running into a bus full of disabled nuns back from saving starving children in Cambodia or something, not in their house.

  5. I'm right there with you on the cat allergy. I don't mind cats, really. They can be rather amusing. But, I just cannot be around them. It sucks. And yeah, I take allergy pills for pollen and that sort of thing, but they don't work on cats. WTF? It's an allergen, why doesn't it work on them?

My mum had the brilliant idea to get two cats, that my idiot sister rescued. And now my mum bitches that I don't go to see her anymore (well, this was before I moved). Gee, mum, I wonder why? There are four of her kids (including me) that are allergic to cats. She says it's just all in our heads. But then again, she's like that with people.

    1. when I was younger and they did that fun allergy test where they prick you with 800 needles and allergens, cat was the one they gave me near my shoulder and then down my arm they did other animals and things.

The cat portion swelled up so much that it took over almost my entire arm and thus they couldn't even get a reading on anything near it, so they had to redo that entire section at a later date without the cat just to see how my body reacted to them.

  6. If you're too allergic to cats, you're too allergic to cats - think they would've understood... It's okay however if it brings good karma to the Steelers this fall... ;)

    1. for friends, until royally screwed over, I'm pretty much willing to do anything they need.
This includes risking my life to make sure the loves of theirs are fed properly and in good condition when they return home.

I'm what they call, a sucker.

    2. Very cool - since you put it like that, I'm bringing five cats with me who are gonna need a place to stay... ;)

  7. I've never done the allergy tests. I find out if I'm allergic to things that hard way - through experience....lol.

That's how I found out about pollen, cats, ragweed, apples and a variety of other fun things. Bad reaction = allergy. But, the apples is a new one and I think it has something to do with the pesticides or wax they use. I never used to be allergic to them. It's a bummer because I like apples. Although, an odd caveat to this, I can eat applesauce and apple pie without any problems.
